The Fremont Abbey Arts Center at 43rd & Fremont Avenue in Seattle is a newly renovated 9000 square foot nonprofit venue providing educational arts & cultural experiences for all ages.  
 
Our focus is Music, Visual, and Literary arts in both performance, workshop, class, and private instruction formats. We also host dance classes and a myriad of community events, benefits, weddings, receptions, etc.  more about The Abbey... 
 
We agree with the "Great Places Declaration" and hope for the Abbey to be your arts focused "3rd place" in Upper Fremont.
 
NEWS 
 
5/9:  THANK YOU for greatly increasing our youth scholarship fund! On May 3rd the Fremont Music School put on an amazing Opera benefit to raise funds for our youth scholarships fund to allow low income youth to enroll in music classes & private lessons. A small portion of the funds raised will also go towards fixing up our newly donated grand piano (Thanks Mrs. Henning!) so it can be used by students & performances.  *Contact us to apply for your child if they are on free or reduced lunch.

On another note, thanks to K. Berry Associates for the ongoing donation of our sound equipment for the Ground Floor! 

4/15: Tyler James will visit from Nashville on April 19th to perform an all-ages acoustic concert with special guest John Van Deusen (The Lonely Forest).

3/19:  Youth Arts Scholarship now open. Apply now if your child qualifies for reduced or free lunch at school.  Current scholarship opportunities are for music classes & private instruction or summer visual arts classes (african drumming/dance class coming soon).  Just send an email to  arts@fremontabbey.org for a PDF application.

1/25: We are partially reopened! Fremont Music School lessons, Sierra Club party, wedding reception, The Round, meetings, and more have been happening in the Abbey already as we wrap up the extensive renovation project.  Please pardon our dust (and come help us clean up and paint!).

ROUND 27 is August 27th and will be at Greenlake Community Center on the lawn across from Strbcks. It now features Josh Ottum (Friends for Heroes), Alessandra Rose (Kindness Kind), and Ritchie (Loch Lomond), poetry by Roberto Ascalon (Poet Populist nominee), and painting by Kristen Cochran & Jesse Brown (Urban Artworks).

6/17:  Seattle Soap Box Derby is coming Sep 29.  We'll be offering the arts center space to those needing a place to build their 'vehicles'. We can provide some tools and maybe even supplies & advice/assistance for low-income or young participants.  11a-4p on 1st Saturday's this summer.  Maybe more in September.
 
6/6:  Fremont Fair is June 16-17 and we'll be offering arts tents for youth (and parents) on Saturday & Sunday, 12-4pm in the ADOBE KIDS UNIVERSE just west of the Rocket Gate.  Eco-tshirt making w/ Nature Consortium teachers, chalk drawing, live painters & community painting, coloring fair posters, etc. Some activities may continue after 4pm on Saturday but not tshirt making. Here's an indirect mention in the Seattle Times article about the fair.

 
6/2: Fremont Bridge opening event, approx 50 kids make eco-tshirts!  Scott Erickson paints live with many 'helpers' from the crowd.

2/05: KEXP 90.3 begins Community Partnership with The Abbey for all of  FEBRUARY! The sponsorship culminates in a benefit show March 3rd @ The Highdive.  (KEXP is the top non-commercial radio station in the world as far as we know.) 

12/6/06: Awarded $14,900 matching fund grant from City of Seattle Dept of Neighborhoods to evaluate arts education needs & test out a variety of workshops, classes, & programs for all ages. (Photo w/ Mayor Greg Nickels coming soon!)
