“Armed only with a Sharpie and a sharp wit, Barbara Mitchell has survived more than 24 years (and even more job titles) in the ever-shifting sands of the music business.  It’s a journey that started in the publicity department of venerable indie labels (Slash, Triple X) in LA and quickly led to a career-expanding move to Seattle that incorporated independent PR for clients like Death Cab for Cutie and Rickie Lee Jones, the resuscitation and management of The Posies, and the creation of a short-lived label/launching pad for Mudhoney guitarist Steve Turner’s incarnation as a skate-folk troubadour.  A brief foray into Portland provided four years’ worth of experience as a music writer, the opportunity to live part-time in Melbourne, and a renewed love affair with the Emerald City.  She has overseen public relations and special opportunities for One Reel/Bumbershoot and is currently operating as an independent agent aiding in strategic PR and management projects.”
